MANIKARNIKA: Brahmin Group Ends Protest
Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is an upcoming Indian epic biographical film based on the life of Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi. It is being directed by Krish and produced by Zee Studios in association with Kamal Jain.
We have come to know that the filmmakers are shooting for a love song in which Rani Laxmibai is seen with a British agent of East India Company.
The producers are making the film based on the controversial book, Rani, written by Jaishree Misra.
While the furore over PADMAVAT has scarcely died down, another period drama about another iconic Indian queen has now come under fire. MANIKARNIKA: The Queen of Jhansi.
It is based on Lakshmi Bai, the 19th Century queen and freedom fighter, stars Kangana Ranaut as the real-life queen.

Suresh Mishra the President of Brahmin outfit Who is threatening stir against Manikarnika film is Also secretary with the State ''Congress'' unit.
While the film is expected to release during the end of the year, Sarva Brahman Mahasabha (SBM) a Brahmin group from Rajasthan has taken offence at reports that Ranaut's character will be shown romantically involved with a British officer. Mahasabha's leaders have promised to disrupt the film's shooting in Rajasthan if the "offensive portions" are not removed.
Unsurprisingly, the Rajput Karni Sena has announced their support of their Brahmin colleagues. The SBM had previously supported the anti-Padmaavat protests staged by the Karni Sena.
“Nobody can even imagine that Maharani Laxmi Bai could have an affair. She died fighting the British at a young age".
Manikarnika's makers have already clarified that the film is not a biopic but the film is now facing opposition from Sarva Brahman Mahasabha for alleged "distortion of facts".
If a film is to be made on her life, it should be a biopic, says Mishra in his letter. While Mishra makes the contention that Rani of Jhansi died at an early age fighting the British and could never have had an affair with a British man in his letter.
He is also reported to have sent a letter to the film’s producer Kamal Jain making an inquiry about the film’s writers and the historians the makers have consulted. He also alleged that he did not receive a response from Jain in this regard.
He also appeals to the state government for an affidavit from the makers of the film so that no distortion of history should take place. He adds, “If the same had been done in the case of Padmaavat, there would have been no issue at all.”
After Padmavat now some folks are opposing MANIKARNIKA: The Queen Of Jhansi. People really need to find something better to do than oppose fictional movies made for entertainment! Protest against rapes & sexual abuse!!
But now the Brahmin Group Leader ends protest after producers assures that there is no distortion of history of Rani Laxmibai in the movie. After receiving written assurance from Kamal Jain - the producer of
Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika, the Brahmin group threatening to stall
screening of the film has now ended the protests.
